Prickly Pear

Egg-shaped fruit with leathery green-yellow / orange skin and orange-yellow flesh containing small black seeds. It contains valuable vitamins of group B and vitamin C, as well as calcium.

Taste

The meat under the spiny skin is delicately sweet, refreshingly juicy and reminiscent of the flavor of the pears.

In addition to being eaten, prickly pears are suitable as a starter for poultry or ham, with smoked trout and crustaceans. Pureed meat can be used as a base for sorbets, creams and sauces. Due to its appetizing color, it is also popular as a side dish for meat dishes and desserts. Its flavors stand out especially in fruit salads and creamy desserts.
